Privacy policy

The short version
Word Combiners is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins, and no database. The words and names you type are processed inside your own browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else.
The words you type
All name blending runs as JavaScript on your device. Your inputs are not transmitted, not logged, and not stored on any server. Closing the tab discards them. We could not show you a list of what you typed even if you asked, because we never had it.
One thing does leave the page, and it stays on your own device: the tool writes your words into the address bar as ?a= and ?b= so a result is shareable and bookmarkable. That means they are part of the URL, and your browser can keep a URL in its history, in session restore, and in whatever it syncs between your own devices. Clearing the two boxes removes them from the address bar again.
Favourites and local storage
If you save a result, it is written to your browser’s localStorage under this site’s own origin. That data stays on your device. It is not readable by us or by other websites. Clearing your browser’s site data for wordcombiners.com removes it, and so does the clear-all link in the tool. The theme switch in the header writes one more key in the same place, wc:theme, holding the single word light or dark so the page does not flash the wrong colours on your next visit. Those two keys are the only storage this site uses.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Nothing here tracks you across sites, and there is no advertising network embedded in these pages.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-D45FDT4FNL) to count page views and understand which tools and languages people use, in aggregate. It records the page you are on, your approximate location (country or region, derived from your IP address by Google, which we do not see), your device type and browser, and the site you arrived from. Google may set a first-party cookie or use browser storage to tell one visit from another. The words you type into the tool, the results you copy and your saved favourites are never sent to Google Analytics: they live only in your browser and in the page address.
We use the data only to see which pages and languages are used and to fix what does not work. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not sell or share it with advertisers, and we do not enable Google Signals or advertising features. If you prefer not to be counted, a content blocker or Google’s own opt-out browser add-on stops the script entirely, and the tool works exactly the same without it. Google’s handling of the data is described in its privacy policy.
If your device is set to a European time zone, a small notice asks before anything is measured, and Google Analytics does not load until you choose Accept. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google’s consent mode also keeps analytics cookies off by default based on location. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, and choosing Decline removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site.
Cloudflare, which hosts the site, also counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, does not use local storage and does not fingerprint visitors; it records the page, the referring site, the browser and the approximate country, in aggregate.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data in order to serve the page and to protect against abuse. This can include your IP address, the page requested, your user agent string, and a timestamp. These logs are handled under Cloudflare’s own privacy terms and are used for delivery and security, not for profiling or marketing by us. We do not query them for individual visitors.
Links to other sites
Pages on this site link out to domain registrars and other third parties. Once you follow a link, you are on their site and their privacy policy applies, not this one. We have no control over what they collect.
Affiliate links
Some outbound registrar links are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate network may set a cookie on that network’s own domain so a later purchase can be credited back to this site. That process happens entirely on their systems. We receive aggregate commission reports, never your personal details. Full detail is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the CCPA, you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. In practice we hold no personal data about you, so there is usually nothing to retrieve or erase. We do not sell or share personal information, and we run no targeted advertising.
If you want to exercise a right, or you have a question about any of the above, email hello@wordcombiners.com. EU and UK residents also have the right to complain to their national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page is updated and the change is described here.
